SMILE!

I'm back with another Giddy Bugs card today!  I had the leftover negative piece from cutting out my large tag for yesterday's card and I didn't want that to go to waste so I decided to make another card.  I'm entering it in the Paper Smooches Designer Drafts challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge which is Anything Goes this week.

This card is actually much truer to the Paper Smooches sketch than the other one.  As I said I used the negative piece from the large tag, which has those cute flowers stamped all over it from Denim and Daisies.  I stamped the Giddy Bugs on a white card stock base first, colored them with some Copics, then I popped up the outer frame with 2 layers of foam tape.  I embossed the word "smile" in white on PTI Hibiscus Burst card stock.  I added the tiny hears on the bugs cheeks to make them even CUTER if that's possible :)  Finished the card with some yellow bakers twine.  Sigh, these bugs make my heart SMILE!

You Make My Life Brighter

Hello!  Today I'm playing along with Paper Smooches Designer Drafts Challenge.  I love this sketch, and had to make a card with it!

I took a few liberties with the sketch, didn't follow it exactly, but I think it catches the spirit of it ;)  I first stamped some flowers from Denim and Daisies on some white card stock, then I cut the tag shape (Papertrey Ink).   The pocket is also from Denim and Daisies.  The cute bee, and sentiment, are from Giddy Bugs.  I just can't get enough of those adorable bugs!  Hope my little card brightens your day, thanks so much for stopping by!

Newton's Nook Inky Paws Challenge #23

Hello there!  I'm joining in with Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge, Summer Lovin'!  The graphic for this is so FUN, I had to play along!

Never met a bright color I could resist lol!  Plus I wish I was sitting in one of those chairs right about now, how about you?

To start my card I took some white card stock, and using the back of the beach ball stamp from Beach Party I inked it up with various Distress Inks, sprayed with a mist of water, and stamped.  When my paper was completely dry I stamped the beach ball using black ink over top of the colors.  I also used the Distress Inks and water with a paint brush to make the splatters.  I cut the bottom of my white panel using a curvy die from Avery Elle and place it on a Kraft card stock base.  The focal image is from Newton's Summer Vacation and I colored it with Copic markers.  I tucked some pattern papers and a piece of a doily behind the focal panel, and finished the card with some bakers twine.

This was really a fun card to make, hope it inspires!  Thanks for stopping by today :)

Love Bug

I recently bought a stamp set that I'm totally in love with (can one be in love with a stamp set lol?!)  Anyway, it's called Giddy Bugs and it's from Paper Smooches.  Kim of Paper Smooches creates THE most adorable stamps, and I don't own nearly enough of them (with me there's always more "want" than "money"!)  I'm entering this card in the current Paper Smooches SPARKS Anything Goes challenge.

I decided to use a colorful pattern paper and do minimal coloring on the bugs.  I did add a bit of Copic color to the bugs, and I coated their wings with glossy accents.  I also added some clear Wink of Stella over the parts that I Copic colored, and on the hearts.  I want to say THANKS to Kim for designing such cute stamps because these little guys make my heart happy :)

Have a wonderful day!

MFT Summer School Lesson #6 and SSS Wednesday Challenge

Hello there, friends!  Today I'm finishing up my last card for the My Favorite Things Summer School's second session.  This is color theory lesson #6, Gallon/Quart/Pint.   I'm also entering this in Simon Says Stamps Wednesday challenge, Sparkle & Shine!

For my card I used pink as my gallon color, white as my quart color, and yellow as my pint color.

I used the little cupcake from Sweet BD Wishes, embossing in white on watercolor paper.  Then I used some distress ink to do a watercolor wash/resist (ummm, made this card several days ago and I can't remember which color DI this is, perhaps Picked Raspberry??!)  The sentiment is also from Sweet BD Wishes, and all of the dies are from MFT.  I added some black messy string, sequins and black pearls to finish the card.  I've had so much fun playing along again with the MFT Summer School, and from what I understand there will be another session in August!  Woohoo, can't wait!

Essential by Ellen July Pin-Sights Challenge

My second post for today, this time I have a card that I made for the Essentials by Ellen July Pin-Sights Challenge.  I love the inspiration board for this challenge, and had to play along!

For my card I used Wild Garden dies and the sentiment "hello" from Mondo Magnolia.  I used various patterned papers to paper piece my card, and finished it all off with some Pretty Pink Posh sequins.  I've always loved red, white, and blue, as a matter of fact years ago my whole house was decorated in an Americana/patriotic theme/color scheme.  Hope you like my card :)

MFT Summer School Lesson #10 Monochromatic

Hello everyone!  Today I have another card for My Favorite Things Summer School, this time for lesson 10 which is about using Monochromatic colors.

For my card I used shades of blue/green, or aqua/teal if you prefer.

I had so much fun making this one!  I used a couple of stencils from MFT to start, the split diagonal on the flag, and the stars in the background.  I used 2 inks on the stencils, Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers distress inks.  The flag is done with those 2 inks, I sponged on the Tumbled Glass first and then moved the stencil and sponged on the Peacock Feather.  The sentiment die is from MFT, as is the stitched fishtail flag banner.  The cupcake is from Papertrey Ink.  I used some glitter paper to make my card more festive, and the card base is Hawaiian Shores card stock from Papertrey ink.

That's all for now, thanks for stopping by today!

MFT Lesson #9 Secondary Colors

Howdy!  I'm here with another card for My Favorite Things Summer School, this time for lesson #9 which is all about using secondary colors.

Secondary Colors are the direct counterparts of the primary colors — red, yellow, and blue. Orange (a combination of red and yellow), green (a combination of blue and yellow), and purple (a combination of red and blue) are the secondary colors. You can find them in between their primary colors on the color wheel.

I stamped some balloons from MFT's Sweet BD Wishes using Wplus9 Cockleshell and Beanstalk inks, and Hero Arts Fresh Peach shadow ink.  The peach color is showing up more pink here than IRL, it's definitely peachy!  The little hearts inside the balloons are from MFT Cheerful Blessings, and the dots are from Paper Smooches.  I used the Happy Birthday die cut that I got for free from MFT this month, LOVE how this die pops away from the card!  I added some color to the sentiment with a sponge.  Popped the white panel up on a PTI Melon Berry card stock base.

That's all for today, thanks so much for stopping by!

You're the Coolest

Today I have a card for the current My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge, and Summer School Lesson #8 primary colors.

I used a new set I just received, Penguins in Paradise, for my card, along with the splatter stamp which is from Jumbo Abstract Art.  The images in Penguins in Paradise are absolutely adorable and I can't wait to play with it more!

Hope you're having a fabulous summer, thanks for stopping by today :)

MFT Summer School Lesson #7

Hello!  Well I'm back at it, part 2 of My Favorite Things Summer School is in session this week.  I have a lot of other things I'm working on this week but I'm going to try and fit in as many of the lessons as I can.  Today's card is for lesson #7 Complimentary Colors.  I need to keep a color chart handy because I can never remember which colors are complimentary.  Luckily MFT provides one on their blog so I need to print that out and paste it to my craft room wall :)

With my prize winnings from the first session of MFT Summer School I was able to buy some new goodies, and this adorable little girl and sentiment were from a couple of the stamp sets I got, Sweet BD Wishes and Brushstroke Birthday.  I'm not very good at Copic coloring, so with images such as this I LOVE to paper piece!  I did color her hair with Copics though.  My complimentary color choices for this card are blue/green, and opposite that, red/orange.

For the sentiment I inked up half the stamp with PTI Berry Sorbet and the other half with PTI Aqua Mist.  I cut some tiny hearts from Winnie & Walter dies and placed them on the cupcake, and a few on my card, then I added some glossy accents on top.

I really LOVE how this card turned out, and I know I'm going to have a lot of fun dressing this little cutie in different dresses in the future :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

100% Stamped Virginia's View Challenge

Hello!  I'm entering this card that I made for my Spotlight On appearance over at Winnie & Walter into the current Virginia's View Challenge.  As you'll see, I did a lot of stamping on this one :)

I'm really loving this Winnie & Walter stamp set, In Bloom: Lola's Bouquet with Joni Andaya!  It was super easy to build up this floral paper because Joni did such a wonderful job designing the stamp set!  I used various PTI ink colors, and the word hello was die cut with Winnie & Walter's In a Word: Hello Cutaway.  The stamped panel was die cut with the large scalloped frame from Winnie & Walter's  Essentials: Audrey's Cutaways.  I used yellow card stock and added strips of white paper to it to make the card base.  Easy peasy, but very striking if I do say so myself :)

Thanks for stopping by today, have a good one!

MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge

Howdy!  I made a card for the current Wednesday sketch challenge at MFT using some of the new goodies I got in the mail yesterday :)

Great sketch, and this is the card I made using it:

I'm so happy I decided to get the new Split Diagonal stencil from the latest release, there are so many design possibilities with this stencil!  For my card today I used a rainbow of Distress Inks and sponged on the colors.  I used the Stitched Jumbo Fishtail Banners and Sun, Moon & Stars dies to do my die cutting.  The sentiment is also a new item that I really love, the fabulous stamp set Brushstroke Birthday.  I adore the big, bold sentiments in this set and I know I'll be using them a lot!  The wood glasses were included in a SSS kit (can't remember which one), but I backed them with some black card stock and applied some Glossy Accents to turn them into sunglasses.  A bright, sunshiny card for any summer occasion, I really love how this one turned out!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, hope you have a great weekend!

Celebrate!

Hello!  Today I have a card that I'm entering in 2 challenges, Sparkle & Shine Challenge #8 and AAA Cards Game #43 Star Scenes.

As you can see there's some fabulous inspiration to work with in the photos above!  I used the starry night theme, along with taking inspiration from the colors and streamers and celebratory feeling in the first photo, and came up with this card.

First I embossed the stars (Winnie & Walter) on a piece of watercolor paper, then added some Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor over top.  The lanterns (which I wanted to make look like they were floating in the sky) are from the Winnie & Walter's stamp set The Party.  I embossed those in white, then colored with a red Zig Clean Watercolor pen.  The tassels were embossed in white and simply colored with my Wink of Stella glitter pen.  The sentiment was cut with a PTI die.  I added Pretty Pink Posh sequins in clear and gold to finish my card.

This was a fun card to make, hope it tickles :)

Essentials by Ellen July Mix-it-Up Challenge

Hello!  Hope everyone had a safe and wonderful 4th of July!  I'm here today with a card for the July Mix-it-Up challenge over at Ellen Hutson.  They're mixing it up with Paper Smooches this month, woohoo!  I love Paper Smooches, don't own very many of their stamps strictly because I can't afford everything I want, but if I could I'd have A LOT more of them!  I'm also entering this card in the Paper Smooches Anything Goes Challenge.

I used a variety of Essentials by Ellen Wildflower Garden dies cut from patterned papers to stuff in the Paper Smooches Denim & Daisies pocket.  The sentiment is also from Paper Smooches.  The layout of this card is totally inspired by the fabulous Alice Wertz of Alice's Little Wonderland.  Not only is Alice a colorist extraordinaire but I adore the way she layers up her cards, and I cased THIS layout for my card.

Hope you have a great day, thanks for stopping by!
